I. LOVE. ICE CREAM. And when I say love, I mean I really love it. Out of all the desserts, ice cream is no doubt my very favorite. It’s an awesome splurge. It’s yummy in a float or a milk shake. And it’s a perfect late night snack. I love it so much that I actually remember the specific ice cream flavors I craved during each of my 3 pregnancies — butter pecan, chocolate, and pistachio. So when my sister offered to give me her barely-used her ice cream maker to free up some cabinet space at her house, I was too excited. I seriously couldn’t wait to get home and try making my own. And since then, me and my kids have made many sorbets and ice creams. This homemade blackberry ice cream is one of our favorites. Smooth, just enough sweet, and just enough tart from the blackberries – I think I could eat this every night
So after taking all my pictures of this ice cream, I’ve decided I need an ice cream scoop. How could I not have one of those, right? It’s on my list
But back to this ice cream….it’s so easy to make! I made this batch with milk, half and half, and sugar, and it turned out really delicious. And I’ve also experimented with sweetened condensed cream…which tasted amazing too!
I can only advise you to make this ice cream with an ice cream maker – I’ve never tried another method. The consistency when you make it in the ice cream maker is very good, but you’ll want to be sure that you leave it in the maker long enough to reach that desired consistency. And I only added 1/4 cup of sugar, but if you like your ice cream sweeter, you can add sugar to taste. Just add it slowly, and taste as you go.
Enjoy!
